Has family time grown?

This is a provocative discussion and debate. Recent research is showing that our generation is spending more time with kids than previous generations.

What do we make of reports like this? Do we try to apply it personally, and compare it to our situation? Do we feel worse about ourselves if we come to the conclusion that other parents are doing a “better” job managing to spend more time with their kids than we do? Do we criticize parents for spending that “extra” time focusing on getting kids into good schools? Or do we hear this report as simple reassurance that just maybe, the world isn’t completely going to hell in a hand-basket?
